The number of Bengalis having taken refuge in India after crossing the Bangladesh borders escalate to 49 lakh 82 thousand 7 hundred and 92.

  • Two platoon fighters from 4th Bengal ‘A’ Company ambush Pakistan forces in their camp located in the Bagra Bazar area in the south of Shalda river. 17 soldiers in the Pakistan Army are killed and 5 injured. The freedom fighters make a second attack three hours later, in which 5 more soldiers in the Pakistan army are killed. The freedom fighters return to their camp unharmed.

 

  • The Muktibahini attack Pakistan forces at Rajpur in Comilla, in which 6 soldiers of Pakistan Army are killed and 3 are injured.

 

  • Pakistan Army, with the aid of the anti-liberation war forces, committ atrocities in Pirojpur and Jhalakathi. In Pirojpur, they abduct Omar Faruk, president of Pirojpur Chatra League, and torture him to death inhumanly.

 

  • In Jhalakathi, Pakistan forces wreak carnage in which many innocent civilians are tortured to death in the Panjiputhipara area.

 

  • Ismat Kitani, special envoy of UN Secretary General U’Thant, meet President Yahya Khan in Rawalpindi.

 

  • The number of Bengalis having taken refuge in India after crossing the Bangladesh borders escalate to 49 lakh 82 thousand 7 hundred and 92.

 

  • In Chittagong, two companies of Pakistan soldiers attack on the Chandgazi camp of the Muktibahini. During the two-hour long conflict 75 Pakistan soldiers are killed and many are injured. The Pakistan forces escaped towards Chagalnaia having incurred severe losses from the counter attack by the Muktibahini.
