If situation in Bangladesh is not controlled within two weeks, India will take stern steps and declare emergency, Indian PM Indira Gandhi says in a letter to the western leaders. She also promises acknowledgement to Bangladesh in such situation and support to Muktibahini explicitly, a report of Times magazine says.

  • If situation in Bangladesh is not controlled within two weeks, India will take stern steps and declare emergency, Indian PM Indira Gandhi says in a letter to the western leaders. She also promises acknowledgement to Bangladesh in such situation and support to Muktibahini explicitly, a report of Times magazine says.

 

  • British Prime Minister Edward Heath sends a letter to Pakistan President Yahya Khan urging the quickest solution for prevailing crisis.

 

  • Muktibahini take captive 13 Razakars assaulting one of their bases at Natun Bazar in Comilla. 13 rifles and huge amount of ammunitions seized.

 

  • Five Pakistan troops including a Major are killed in a mine explosion on Srighat-Goyainghat highway in Sylhet.

 

  • Seven Pakistan troops are killed during a Muktibahini-military confrontation at Laxmipur in Noakhali. Muktibahini used mortars in that battle. 1,100 rounds of ammunition and a Chinese rifle are recovered.

 

  • Muktibahini accompanied by the allied force attack Pakistan army at Chaugachha in Jessore. Both sides used tanks and heavy artillery in this battle. Pakistan force eventually retreated. Six Pakistan tanks are destroyed. Pakistan army used 14 Chinese tanks and 500 troops.
