Bangladesh Liberation War Museum
October 28, 2004
Dr. Sarwar Ali, members of the American Chamber of Commerce, sham-man-nito otti-tee brindo, and, as-salaamu alaikum, namaskar and thank you for having me today.
The U.S. Embassy and the Liberation War Museum have had a close relationship for many years, and I am very proud to be here today. In 2003 my predecessor, Ambassador Peters, presented an $8,500 check from the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation to help preserve the priceless historical artifacts displayed here. As the years march on and the War falls farther behind history, it is critically important that places like this remind us of the terrible price the Bengali people paid for freedom.
